Parents' questions about hockey card swaps

Everything parents ask before their kids start swapping. Still wondering about something? Your kids can start their binder for free while you look around.

Safety and how it works

Is it safe for kids to trade hockey cards on BinderBench?

Yes. Kids only swap inside circles their parents approve, other kids only see a nickname, there is no chat, and every swap happens face to face at a public place the families pick together. By default a parent approves every trade and gift before any card moves.

Who can my child trade with?

Only families in their Pods: trusted circles you approve. Pod 1 is family and friends; Pod 2 is a team, school or league. There is no way to find or contact strangers.

What do other kids see about my child?

A hockey nickname and the cards they could swap. Never a real name, school, address or contact details.

Do I have to approve every swap?

You choose. Approval is on by default, so trades and gifts wait for your OK before any card moves. You can turn it off to let your kids trade on their own inside their Pods, and you still see every swap.

How do kids swap the cards?

In real life. The app finds the match, the families agree on a bright, busy public spot to meet, and the kids swap the cards there. Once both sides confirm, both binders update.

Does my child need an email address or a phone?

No. Kids sign in with a username and password. We never ask kids for an email, a last name or where they live.

Is there chat or messaging?

No. There is no chat or direct messaging. Kids can share short one-way updates with their Pod, without links or contact details, and parents can remove any of them.

Can kids buy or sell cards on BinderBench?

No, never. Cards are only swapped or given, and families never pay each other. BinderBench shows no card prices.

What age is BinderBench for?

Young hockey card collectors. It is simple enough for a 7-year-old, and a parent runs the family account.

Can our team or school run a card swap day?

Yes. A team, school or league can be a Pod 2 circle, so kids see their matches ahead of time and parents see every swap and meetup. Then everyone brings their doubles on the day.

Are Tim Hortons hockey cards worth anything?

We do not track card prices. BinderBench is about completing the set and swapping doubles with friends, not about what a card is worth.

Is BinderBench part of Tim Hortons or Upper Deck?

No. BinderBench is an independent platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Tim Hortons, Upper Deck or any league or team.

What does the One Child plan include?

Everything kids need to swap: Pods, matches, trades and gifts, with your approvals and notifications. It covers one child for one year. Each child needs their own plan.

See pricing

Is it a subscription? Will I be charged again?

No. It is a one-time payment for one year, plus tax. It never renews on its own; you can buy a new year when it ends if you like.

Is BinderBench available in French?

Yes. The whole app is in English and French, and each person can switch at any time.

Is there a version for adult collectors?

Yes. BinderBench trading is a separate site where adults (18+) trade their own cards, card for card. Kids never see it.
